Children built mini ziplines today. They were given specific materials and had to design a mini container for a ping pong ball which had to glide smoothly down the line.
This tied in with our science chapter about friction. They discovered that smooth surfaces helped the carrier slide faster and that adding weight helped it overcome friction.
Lots of testing, adjusting and improving designs as they got to work.
